Fundamental analysis

12 February, 2019

EUR/GBP was little changed on Tuesday, trading slightly below 0.88. On Brexit, British Prime Minister Theresa May is seeking to buy time to renegotiate her Brexit agreement with the European Union, as her opponents in Parliament plot to take control to stop the U.K. plunging out of the bloc with no deal. She will make a statement in the House of Commons on Tuesday. Soft European data last week, on the other hand, kept the single currency under pressure. The European Commission sharply cut on Thursday its forecasts for euro zone growth for this year and next, with the bloc’s largest economies expected to be held back by global trade tensions and domestic challenges. Early this afternoon, BoE Governor Mark Carney will at an FT event as Brexit nears and the world economy slows.
