Deutsche Lufthansa AG, is the largest German airline which, when combined with its subsidiaries, is the second-largest airline in Europe in terms of passengers carried.
- FLIGHT ACTIVITY IMPROVES DESPITE OMICRON RISK: European air traffic and global commercial flight numbers have advanced since dipping in the second half of November, both in terms of actual flight numbers and when comparing against the same dates in 2019, according to daily tracking by Eurocontrol and FlightRadar24. The number of flights arriving and departing from Austria has climbed rapidly after the country ended a three-week national lockdown on Dec. 12, according to Eurocontrol. Numbers are also rising from recent lows in nearby countries such as Germany. Switzerland’s departures and arrivals were 22% less than the equivalent period for 2019 in the seven days ended Monday, a substantial rebound from a deficit of 36% as recently as Dec. 11, and back to levels seen in early November.
- NEWS: Citigroup double upgraded the German carrier to buy amid strong cargo business and the outlook for the reopening of the Asia-Pacific routes, notably China. It raised Lufthansa's price target to 7.50 euros from EU1.43 euros.
- Pfizer and Moderna expect their Covid-19 vaccine to hold up against the omicron variant and data on how well it protects should be available within two to three weeks.
- November 8 - The opening of US borders to vaccinated travellers from Europe. Since the announcement of the opening, the number of weekly bookings has increased by 51% compared to the previous weeks.
- PRICE ACTION: The price is currently 6.90 euros. The stock needs to rise over 120% to reach its pre covid level of € 15.43. From a technical standpoint the stock shows strong support at the 6.00 euro level and offers an exceptional risk reward profile.
