- DESCRIPTION: The USA100 is a capitalization weighted index of 100 of the largest non-financial firms listed on the NASDAQ.
- EVENT (FEBRUARY 1): US FEDERAL RESERVE INTEREST RATE DECISION. The U.S. Federal Reserve raised interest rates as expected by 0.50% points to 4.50% in December. The futures markets currently give a 95% chance of a 25 basis point hike in interest rates on February 1st. The markets also expect that the Fed will close the current hike cycle by the end of Q1 of 2023, raising the benchmark interest rate to a terminal rate of 5.00%.
- EVENT (JANUARY 24th to February 3rd): US QUARTERLY (Q4) EARNINGS SEASON: The following five companies account for 40.3% of the USA100 and are expected to report their 4th quarter financials by February 3rd, 2023: Microsoft, Tesla, Apple, Google, and Amazon. On average, this block of stocks has climbed higher around their financial releases the last 8 quarters.
- Technical Analysis: Weekly technical indicators including the RSI, the MACD, and the Stochastic show the USA100 is in an oversold condition and may be poised for a reversal.
- Index Performance: The USA100 reached a record high of 16,764.86 pm November 22, 2021. The USA100 would need to rise over 45% to reach that all-time high again. However, the price could decline further.
