- US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP PRESENTED THE “STARGATE”, A $500 BILLION A.I. INVESTMENT THAT TEAMS UP ORACLE, OPENAI AND SOFTBANK. Three top tech firms announced that they will create a new company, called Stargate, to grow artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son and Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison appeared at the White House alongside President Donald Trump to announce the company, which Trump called the “largest AI infrastructure project in history.” Stargate will build the physical and virtual infrastructure to power the next generation of AI, including data centers around the country.

- FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7 AT 13:30 GMT: US NONFARM PAYROLLS AND UNEMPLOYMENT RATE (JANUARY): According to market consensus, the US unemployment rate is expected to remain unchanged at 4.1%. The report will be closely watched, as Fed interest rate decisions in 2025 will depend on US employment data. If unemployment comes in higher than expected, it could be interpreted as positive for stocks, as it could increase the likelihood of a more accommodative monetary policy from the Fed.
