Weekly Special Report: USD/CAD
EVENTS (U.S.):
- WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 AT 13:15 GMT+1: U.S. ADP EMPLOYMENT CHANGE (SEPTEMBER). Private sector employment came in lower than expected in August. Another weak reading could signal a slowing U.S. labor market, reducing expectations of further Fed interest rate hikes and weakening the U.S. dollar.
- WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 AT 13:30 GMT+1: U.S. CORE PCE INFLATION (AUGUST). Core PCE, the Fed’s preferred inflation measure, remained at 3.3% year over year in July. A lower-than-expected reading could reduce expectations of further Fed interest rate hikes, weighing on the U.S. dollar.
- FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2 AT 13:30 GMT+1: U.S. NONFARM PAYROLLS (NFP) AND UNEMPLOYMENT RATE (SEPTEMBER). The U.S. labor market has shown a clear weakening trend over the past few years, with slower job creation and unemployment currently at 4.1%. The labor market will remain a key focus, and further weakness could reduce expectations of interest rate hikes, weighing on the U.S. dollar.
EVENTS (CANADA):
- FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9 AT 13:30 GMT+1: CANADA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE (SEPTEMBER). The unemployment rate in Canada has remained at 6.4% since July.
