- CLOUD COMPUTING AT THE CORE (AZURE): Microsoft Azure is one of the world’s top three cloud platforms, ranking second with around 20% global market share, behind AWS in first place and ahead of Google Cloud in third. Azure is a key growth driver for Microsoft, supported by strong demand for cloud infrastructure, data storage, and AI-related services.

MICROSOFT WINDOWS & SURFACE EVENT
- EVENT (OCTOBER 7): MICROSOFT TO PRESENT ITS NEXT GENERATION OF A.I. COMPUTERS. Microsoft will hold a major Windows and Surface event focused on bringing powerful AI directly into personal computers. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will participate, with Microsoft expected to provide more details about its new Surface devices powered by NVIDIA’s RTX Spark technology.
- THE GOAL: RUN A.I. DIRECTLY ON YOUR COMPUTER, INSTEAD OF THE CLOUD. Today, many advanced AI tasks are processed in large external data centers, meaning information has to be sent over the internet, processed, and returned to the user. Microsoft and NVIDIA want more AI tasks to be processed directly on the computer itself, making AI potentially faster, more private and less dependent on an internet connection or expensive cloud computing.
- NVIDIA PROVIDES THE A.I. POWER, MICROSOFT BRINGS IT INTO WINDOWS. NVIDIA's new RTX Spark technology provides the computing power needed to run advanced AI directly on the computer, while Microsoft is integrating the technology deeply with Windows 11. Microsoft is also launching its own RTX Spark devices, the Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, while manufacturers including Dell, HP, Lenovo and ASUS are launching their own RTX Spark Windows computers.
- WHY IT MATTERS FOR MICROSOFT: Microsoft and NVIDIA are pushing Windows PCs toward much more powerful AI that can run directly on the computer, instead of relying entirely on the cloud. This could give businesses and consumers a stronger reason to upgrade to newer Windows PCs and increase demand for Microsoft’s AI services.
