AUGUST 2026 EVENTS
The 2nd Quarter earnings season continues in August with major companies still to post. Of the major companies remaining, Palantir (August 3), AMD and SpaceX (August 4), Walt Disney (August 5) and NVIDIA (August 26) will declare their earnings.

The OPEC+V7 meeting will be held (Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Oman). This meeting comes at a pause in the most recent US strikes on Iran while the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed. OPEC is expected to increase production again by around 188,000: the same amount it increased output by for June, July and August. Those production increases have not been fully implemented due to ongoing fighting and disruptions.

The ISM Manufacturing PMI previous print was 53.3. The number was lower than the expected 53.8.

Hardware and Semiconductor infrastructure will be discussed at this AI event held in Santa Clara, California. Top companies such as Micron and SK Hynix will participate.

The previous month (June) saw unemployment decline to 4.2%. Nonfarm Payrolls for the previous month (June) printed 57,000, much lower than forecasts for 114,000.

The RBA will meet to decide on interest rates. The current rate is 4.35%. Current expectations are that the RBA could pause rates at current levels, although there is a possibility that rates will increase in the coming months.

Top-line Year on Year CPI for June came in at 3.5%, below the expected 3.8%. Core CPI (excluding food and energy) was 2.6% Year-on-Year in June.
