During European trading, the British Pound increased against the US Dollar, trading above 1.2400 levels.

The currency pair has been trending higher since this morning ahead of the UK’s Treasury chief Reevses’ speech about potential new measures to stimulate economic growth in the UK. In the UK, there are no major data releases today. In the US, New Home Sales data for December (669k expected) will be posted (15:00 GMT).
