The Australian dollar decreased during the Asian session. The pair is trading 0.6977. Yesterday employment data for December were published in Australia and showed a much worse situation than expected. Employment change fell from 58.2K in November to -14.6K in December. Australia has no economic events scheduled to report today. In the US yesterday's reports showed that initial jobless claims last week fell from 205K to 190K and the Philadelphia Fed manufacturing Index in January improved from -13.7 to -8.9.
