U.S. stocks fell on Wednesday ahead of a quarterly earnings report from Nvidia, Wall Street's centerpiece event of the week that could reverse or add impetus to a rally driven by optimism around artificial intelligence.

The S&P 500 fell 0.60%, the Nasdaq 100 declined 1.12%, while the Dow Jones was down 0.39%.
