The US Dollar increased against the Japanese Yen in Asian trading above 159.20 levels.
The USD/JPY climbed to a new multi month high as ongoing concerns about Japan’s political outlook remained following reports that Prime Minister Takaichi will call a snap election and may dissolve parliament on Wednesday. In Japan, PPI data for December (2.4% exp) will be released (23:00 GMT). In the US, Retail Sales for November (0.4% expected) and PPI for October (0.3% last month) will be released (13:30 GMT).
