  • MARKET POTENTIAL: AN INCREASE OF 506% EXPECTED UNTIL 2031. According to BIS Research, in 2020, the size of the Sub-Orbital and Space Tourism market was $428.8 million. It is expected to rise to nearly $2.6 billion by 2031, which represents a Compounded Annual Growth Rate of 17.15%.
  • COMMERCIAL (PAYING) FLIGHTS TO START IN 2023: Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic are both expected to offer flights to space in 2023. Blue Origin is said that it has booked flights worth 100 million dollars for the coming period, while Virgin Galactic is said to have 1000 customers waiting to be taken up to space by the company.

EVENTS AND ANALYSIS:

  • EVENT: WEEK OF JANUARY 16- 22: GROUND TESTS. The company announced that planned upgrades of VMS Eve are complete and the mothership is expected to enter ground tests as soon as the week of January 16- 22.
  • EVENT (Q1 OF 2023): FLIGHT TESTS. The company said that after the ground tests are done, they will start another round of flight tests. They have in the past performed several tests, but the most remarkable were in 2021, when the company's founder Richard Branson flew to space successfully.
  • EVENT (EXPECTED: FEBRUARY 22): Q4 EARNINGS REPORT. Virgin Galactic is expected to report its 4th quarter financials on February 22nd. It is expected to give updates on its flight testing progress, ticket sales, and other business.
  • EVENT (Q2 OF 2023): COMMERCIAL FLIGHTS FINALLY BEGIN. The company said commercial service remains on track to begin in Q2 of this year.
  • ANALYSTS’ OPINIONS: Jefferies set a price target of $11 on January 3rd, 2023. Goldman Sachs set a price target of $12 on November 13th, 2022.
  • STOCK PRICE ACTION: THE STOCK HAS HAD A DOWNWARD CORRECTION OF AROUND 96% FROM ITS ALL- TIME HIGH OF $62.33 (January, 2021). The stock fell to its lowest price ever to $2.80 in December, 2022. Virgin Galactic was last trading around $5, and if a full recovery to all-time highs, the stock could see an upside of around 1,147%, however the price could also decline further.
