During European trading, the British Pound fell against the US Dollar, trading below 1.3500 levels.
The GBP/USD retreated in the European session, ahead of Jerome Powell's speech at the Jackson Hole symposium and as slightly lower odds of an interest rate cut by the FED in September are creating positive pressure for the US dollar. In the UK, GfK Consumer Confidence data was published with data being higher than expected (-17 realised vs -19 expected). In the US, FED Chair Jerome Powell will speak at Jackson Hole Symposium at 15:00 GMT+1.
