During European trading, the British Pound advanced against the US Dollar, trading above 1.3400 levels.
The GBP/USD strengthened in the European session, following a barrage of better than expected economic data from the UK, creating positive pressure for the pound sterling. In the UK, GDP figures for August came out in line with expectations (0.1%) and Manufacturing Production for August came out higher than expected (0.4% realised vs 0.2% expected). In the US, the Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing index for October (9.1 expected) will be released (13:30 GMT+1).*
