The USA500 index futures rose 0.7% in the early European trading session. The USA500 and other American equity indices rose once it became clear that the Democrats would win the last remaining Senate race and therefore gain control of the U.S. Senate. With full control of Congress and the White House, soon to be Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer tweeted, “Buckle up!” Washington watchers now expect to see an unprecedented wave of fiscal stimulus unleashed by the U.S. Federal Government. That has sent stocks as well as bond yields soaring. For the moment nobody seems to be considering the other side of the Democrats controlling both Congress and the White House which is more taxes. That includes corporate taxes, capital gains taxes, death taxes, and personal taxes. Plus, look for more regulations on business and commerce in the future.
