The S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended sharply lower on Thursday, weighed down by a slump in chipmaker Nvidia after its quarterly report failed to rekindle Wall Street's AI rally, while investors grew concerned about a trade war, alongside data pointing to a cooling U.S. economy.

On Thursday the S&P 500 dropped 1.57%, the Dow Jones fell 0.44% and the Nasdaq was down 2.78%.
