- NIO Inc. currently sells the ES8 and ES6 electric SUVs, and a new EC6 electric crossover. In early January 2021 they revealed their new sedan ET7 that will be selling in 2022.
- EVENT: QUARTERLY EARNINGS RESULTS (Q4 ‘20) (Monday, March 1, 2021 (AFTERMARKET). The company is expected to report an Earnings Per Share (EPS) loss of $0.470, which is lower than Q3 EPS loss of $0.820. Revenue figures are expected to come in at $6.637 billion, higher than Q3 revenue figures of $4.526 billion.
- CAR DELIVERY EXPECTATIONS FOR 2021 TO BE ADDRESSED: The Chinese electric-vehicle maker NIO reported higher deliveries again, for January. The company delivered 7,225 vehicles, up 2% from 7,007 delivered in December. The year-over-year growth was 352%, according to the company’s news release. The company ended 2020 on a high, having delivered a record 43,728 vehicles for the year. Investors will be expected to get better clue on car delivery for 2021 and the expectations are high.
- POINT TO CLOSELY WATCH (WILL NIO Inc. ENTER THE U.S. MARKETS?): NIO Inc. does not sell any products in the U.S. According to the latest reports, the company is now considering a possible entry to the US markets, something that could be touched upon at the Earnings Release on Monday (March 1, AFTERMARKET). The company is expected to enter the EU market in the second half of 2021 as well.
- GENERAL (CHINA EV MARKET EXPANDS EXPONENTIALLY): China Energy Vehicles Sales (includes electric vehicle, plug- in hybrid and fuel cell electric vehicles) rose 281% from year earlier (China Passenger Car Association). NIO Inc. is part of that increase. The Electric Vehicle in China remains very attractive and promising in 2021.
- NEWS: South Korea’s sovereign-wealth fund, which manages more than 20 billion dollars, increased investments in NIO Inc. The fund bought 295,687 more American depositary receipts of NIO to end 2020 with 642,087 ADRs of the Chinese EV maker. 1 receipt is equal to 1 share.
- ANALYST OPINION: Morgan Stanley maintains a price target of $80 a share. Credit Suisse forecasts $71, while Deutsche Bank sits at $70 a share.
