  • LONG-TERM SUPPORT AREA AT THE PSYCHOLOGICAL MARK OF $2: Gasoline prices have recently tested levels near $2, which has been acting as a support area since early 2021.
  • STATISTICS (2021-2025): GASOLINE PRICES TEND TO RECOVER AFTER TESTING THE AREA NEAR THE MARK OF $2. Gasoline prices have approached the area near $2 in total eleven times since early 2021. According to the daily chart below, after testing levels near $2, gasoline prices tend to recover towards the area between $2.15 and $2.30. Although prices can fall, too.

  • EXAMPLE (AUGUST 24): Rollover from the contract that expires in August to the contract that expires in September took place on August 24, 2025.
  • EVENT (AUGUST 24): FUTURES CONTRACT ROLLOVER. On August 24, due to a contract rollover, the gasoline price opened down lower initially by 8.36%, creating a negative price gap on the daily chart as depicted above.
  • RECENT HISTORY (JANUARY 28, 2024 – JULY 27, 2025): 19 CONTRACT ROLLOVERS HAVE OCCURRED SINCE THE BEGINNING OF 2024. In the period between January 2024 and July 2025, the gasoline market has seen 19 contract rollovers in total.
  • STATISTICS (JANUARY 28, 2024 – JULY 27, 2025): CONTRACT ROLLOVER GAPS TO ALWAYS CLOSE UP. The period between January 2024 and July 2025 has seen 19 rollover gaps, with an average price gap of 0.55 dollars. According to the MetaTrader 4 Platform, gasoline would always fill up the gap.

GEOPOLITICS: TENSIONS REMAIN HIGH BETWEEN THE USA/UKRAINE AND RUSSIA

  • BREAKING: POTENTIAL RUSSIA’S PUTIN – UKRAINIAN ZELENSKY SUMMIT UNDER QUESTION AS SECURITY GUARANTEES TO UKRAINE NOT DEFINED YET. Despite recent Trump-Putin and Trump-Zelensky- EU Leaders summits, separately, talks over potential peace deal have not been fully fruitful as many questions remain unanswered.

BREAKING (AUGUST 22): US PRESIDENT TRUMP EXPECTS OUTCOMES ON A POTENTIAL PUTIN-ZELENSKY MEETING IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS. President Donald Trump said he will give Russian President Vladimir Putin a couple of weeks, further extending his deadline for potential consequences against Russia after urging the Russian leader to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart in hopes of ending the war.

  • US SANCTIONS AGAINST RUSSIA AND ITS TRADE PARTNERS ARE STILL ON THE TABLE IF NO PEACE DEAL IS REACHED. According to Reuters, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened severe consequences if Russian President Vladimir Putin did not agree to peace.

BREAKING (AUGUST 6): US PRESIDENT TRUMP ANNOUNCED EXTRA 25% TARIFFS ON INDIA OVER OIL PURCHASES FROM RUSSIA TO MAKE IT TOTAL 50%. India bought around 2 million barrels a day of oil from Russia in June. In addition, this would be around 40% of total Russia exports. Latest data also showed that Russia’s oil supplies represent 45% of total oil imports in India. Meanwhile, India said will continue buying oil from Russia.

BREAKING (AUGUST 6): US PRESIDENT TRUMP THREATENED EXTRA 25% TARIFFS ON CHINA OVER OIL PURCHASES FROM RUSSIA.

RUSSIAN OIL PRODUCTION: Russia produces around 9% of total oil production in the world, or nearly 10 million barrels a day.

RUSSIAN OIL EXPORTS: Russia’s oil exports are around 5 million barrels a day, representing around 5% of total global consumption.
