27 May, 2022
During most of European trade, the Turkish lira weakened further against the dollar. Yesterday, the Central Bank of Turkey kept the reference (weekly) interest rate at the current level (14%). Extremely high inflation in Turkey, with inadequate interest rates and Turkey's commitment to allow Finland and Sweden to join NATO, is putting pressure on the Turkish lira. At around 13:15, the dollar was exchanged for 16,393 Turkish lira, which is a weakening of the Turkish lira by 0.21% since the beginning of trading tonight.
