In Asian trading, the US Dollar rose against the Canadian Dollar, trading above 1.4350 levels.

The loonie has come under another round of negative pressures as Canada’s prime minister announced his resignation and as Trump's inauguration day draws near, as well as the possibility of tariffs being imposed on Canadian exports to the US. In Canada, there are no scheduled data releases today. In the US, ADP Nonfarm Employment for December (136k exp) and Initial Jobless Claims (214k exp) will be released (13:30 GMT).
