The USD/TRY traded sharply higher during the Asian session to trade at 7.4315. The pair climbed higher for the fourth trading day in a row on Thursday. The Turkish Economic Confidence Index for February printed at 95.80, a slight decrease from January’s figure of 96.20. In the United States, 4th Quarter GDP was revised down a tenth of a percentage point to 4.1% Quarter-over-Quarter. Initial Jobless Claims for the past week printed at 730,000, much better than the 838,000 that had been expected. Core Durable Goods Orders for January rose 1.4%, Month-over-Month. The consensus forecast was an increase of only 0.7%. Pending Home Sales for January fell 2.8%, Month-over-Month. The consensus forecast was a drop of only 0.2%.
