  • EVENT: The company will raise 2.14 billion euros by offering new shares to its stakeholders. The new shares are expected to be offered to shareholders from Sept. 22 to Oct. 5 The company will issue 597.7 million new shares at 3.58 euros each and at a subscription ratio of 1:1. On September the 22nd, Lufthansa shares fell 29%.
  • White House said on Monday, the United States will reopen in November to air travelers from 33 countries including China, India, Brazil and most of Europe who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The travel industry welcomed the upcoming changes with an intense stock rise in the airliners sector as the move is likely to boost air passenger travel.

EasyJet and IAG capital raise

  • On September 9 EasyJet started launching a £1.2bn capital raise in order to complete a recovery from the pandemic. Subscription ratio was 1.5:1. Following the move the share price fell 23%. Since then the price has recovered 19%.
  • IAG launched a heavily discounted rights issue on September 9, 2020 to raise 2.74 billion euros ($3.2 billion). The price fell 53% and during the following 7 days the price recovered 94% of its previous loss.
