- MARKET SHARE (PRODUCERS): BIGGEST PLATINUM PRODUCERS IN THE WORLD. South Africa is the largest producer, holding 72.8% of the global market share, while Russia is the second with 8-10% of the market. Zimbabwe is third with 5%.
- MARKET SHARE (CONSUMERS): China is the world's largest platinum consumer, with 34%, while Europe holds 22%, and North America holds 16% of the platinum consumed worldwide.
EVENTS (U.S.):
- FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 AT 13:30 GMT+1: U.S. NONFARM PAYROLLS (NFP) AND UNEMPLOYMENT RATE (AUGUST). Investors will closely watch the U.S. labor market after July’s very weak employment data, when nonfarm payrolls (NFP) fell by 23,000. Another weak report could reduce expectations of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike at the September meeting, weighing on the U.S. dollar and supporting platinum prices.
- FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 AT 13:30 GMT+1: U.S. INFLATION DATA (CPI) (AUGUST). Investors will closely watch U.S. inflation after the last two readings declined, from 4.2% in May to 3.5% in June and 3.4% in July. Another weak report could reduce expectations of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike at the September meeting, weighing on the U.S. dollar and supporting platinum prices.
- WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 AT 19:00 GMT+1: U.S. FEDERAL RESERVE (FED) INTEREST RATE DECISION. The Fed kept interest rates unchanged at 3.75% at its latest meeting in July.

TECHNICAL ANALYSIS:
- SUPPORT AREA: $1,600 - $1,500. The support area between $1,600 and $1,500 has been tested only a few times over the past year. Although this could indicate limited downside potential, if the price breaks below these levels, the downtrend could continue.
- UPTREND (July – September 2026): The daily chart below depicts an ongoing uptrend and an upward trend channel that has been in place since late July 2026. Overall, the platinum price rose from around $1,600 in late July to $1,917.9 by late August 2026. However, the price could also decline.
- PLATINUM PRICE HIT AN ALL-TIME HIGH OF $2,920 (January 26, 2026). Platinum prices have traded around $1,719, and if a full recovery to the previous all-time high takes place, upside potential of around 70% could be seen. However, the price could also decline.
