S&P 500 companies lost a combined $2.4 trillion in stock market value in Thursday's selloff on Wall Street, their biggest one-day loss in value since the emerging coronavirus pandemic in March 2020 as traders worried about a potential recession, caused by a damaging trade war.
On Thursday the S&P 500 was sharply lower by 4.85%, the Dow Jones fell 3.98% and the Nasdaq sank 5.99%.
