- TREMENDOUS Q4 EARNINGS REPORT (January 27) Apple’s numbers exceeded Wall St. forecasts in earnings and revenue. It earned $2.10 per share vs. $1.89 forecast. Apple reported record revenue of $123.9 billion in the 4th quarter and grew overall sales 11%, despite supply chain challenges. It beat analysts’ estimates in every category of its business except iPads. Its Services revenue grew 24%, Year-over-Year. The margin on its services sector is over 70%. Overall margins were 43.8% vs. 41.7% expected.
- EVENT: Apple is expected to have a new products event in early March. There are strong rumors that this event will include a new inexpensive iPhone SE3 and some new IPads.
- ELECTRIC VEHICLE MARKET: Apple has been working on an electric car project since 2016. Their main focus is on fully autonomous driving, a car without the need for a steering wheel or pedals. It is rumored that it has about 1,000 employees working on the project. Of note, it was reported on August 12, 2021 that Foxconn, which assembles Apple’s iPhones, plans on opening up electric vehicle factories in the United States by 2023. Apple has secured an autonomous driving testing permit from the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
- ANALYST OPINION: Apple is highly regarded by a large majority of Wall St. analysts. According to Bloomberg, Apple currently has 37 Buy ratings, 9 Hold ratings, and 1 Sell ratings. Deutsche Bank had a targeted price of $210 on January 28th. Morgan Stanley rates it Overweight and raised its price target to $210 on February 1st, it said Apple was its top stock pick for 2022.
