AMD weekly uptrend opportunity based On 1.00 Lot Calculation:
- Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. is a semiconductor company that operates worldwide in two segments - computing and graphics;
- EVENT: Financial results for the first quarters of 2021 will be released on April 28 (tentatively). In the last reporting period, AMD reported $0.52 of EPS, which overcame forecasts that stood at $0.47. Financial results were also better than expected in the first two quarters of 2020;
- Chips are crucial in computers, where use has exploded as more people work from home. The Biden administration plans to invest in the domestic chip manufacturing industry. There are fears that the U.S. is becoming too reliant on foreign suppliers and countries that have made significant investments into chip industry. In late February, President Biden already signed an executive order to help the US create a “more resilient and secure supply chain" in the chip making industry. This initiative could further increase demand for AMD products;
- AMD competes with Intel in making central processing units (CPUs), while NVidia is a major competitor in the market of graphic cards. AMD’s new Ryzen processors, launched in 2017, were branded by the company as “the world’s best laptop processors” and “the world’s fastest gaming processors”. AMD has been steadily increasing its market share since then. In the first quarter of 2021, AMD’s Ryzen topped 50% of all desktop processors (CPU) sales.
- The rise in global popularity of cryptocurrency mining contributed to a significant rise in graphic cards sales in Q4 2020, also benefiting sales of AMD products.
