SPACE TOURISM
- INDUSTRY: Relatively new and the participants in this industry have pledged to take ordinary people up to space using their technology and spaceships.
- MARKET PLAYERS: Virgin Galactic (Richard Branson), Blue Origin (Jeff Bezos) and SpaceX (Elon Musk) are the most prominent companies which are expected to take tourists in space already in 2023.
VIRGIN GALACTIC
- THE COMPANY: Virgin Galactic is developing space vehicles and building a commercial space tourism service to take private citizens into space. Virgin Galactic Holdings serves customers in the United States. Virgin Galactic is the largest publicly traded space tourism company on the market.
- CURRENT NUMBER OF RESERVATIONS: 800+. Many of them were purchased at a price of $250,000, before the company decided to raise the ticket price to $450,000.
- CURRENT TICKET PRICE: $450,000.
- PROJECTED REVENUE PER FLIGHT: $2.7 million. That system currently consists of two operational vehicles: A two-pilot, six-passenger space plane named VSS Unity and a carrier aircraft known as VMS Eve.
- PROJECTED NUMBER OF FLIGHTS: 400 per year.
- PROJECTED REVENUE PER YEAR: $1.08 billion.
VIRGIN GALACTIC: EVENTS AND TIMELINE
- EVENT: JUNE 29: FIRST COMMERCIAL FLIGHT (GALACTIC 01). ITALIAN AIR FORCE. Virgin Galactic is expected to conduct its first commercial flight carrying the Italian Air Force to space as part of the “Galactic 01” mission. Galactic 01 will carry three members of the Italian Air Force to conduct microgravity research with science payloads.
- EVENT: EARLY AUGUST: SECOND COMMERCIAL FLIGHT (GALACTIC 02). Galactic 02 is expected to launch in early August and will carry a private crew.
- TIMELINE FOR 2023: EVERY NEXT MONTH AT LEAST ONE COMMERCIAL FLIGHT. Virgin will fly on a monthly basis afterward, although details of future missions aren't yet available.
VIRGIN GALACTIC: PRICE ACTION
- STRONG SUPPORT AT $3.00 (Data Source: MetaTrader4 Platform). Virgin Galactic has maintained strong support at around $3.00 since December 2022. The level of $3.00 has been tested three times since then.
- THE STOCK HAS TRADED AROUND 91% BELOW ITS ALL- TIME HIGH OF $62.33 (November 4, 2021). The stock tested its lowest price ever in April 2023 ($2.74).
