Euro in focus: will Italy be next to leave the EU?

November 30, 2016

The Brexit vote and Donald Trump’s election have made traders uneasy about the future of Europe’s single market economy. Italian banks and stocks are now in focus as Italy – the 3rd-largest national economy in the Euro Zone – prepares to carry out a referendum on whether it should stay in the euro area.
The constitutional referendum will be held on Sunday, 4 December 2016. Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, has pledged to resign if he loses the vote.
Volatility in euro currency pairs and Italian-based CFDs is anticipated to be high regardless of the referendum’s outcome.
